So, writing is the new praying

A while back lovely rock chick Julockla wrote about writing being the new praying and I've been pondering it ever since.

Neither hubbie nor I are particularly religious, we don't go to church and we don't intend to bring Miniegg up in any sort of organised religion. But we do like to live our lives with a nod towards karma. What goes around comes around, do good things and good things will happen to you sort of thing.

So I'm quite intrigued by the whole notion of writing being the new praying. I do love the way that writing lets me rant on about reflect on things that I maybe wouldn't otherwise have a chance to. But I haven't yet used it to count my blessing enough. And I do feel I need to count my blessings. I need to remind myself of what I have and stop and appreciate it before I go charging off seeking the next adventure. And to me, that's what praying is all about - counting blessings and reflecting on the days.

It's my birthday on Friday, so I think that's one of the reasons I want to count my blessings. But also, I'm absolutely desperate for another baby. A little baby brother or sister for Miniegg. Hubbie, is not so desperate. But you know what, that's fine just now. For a long time it wasn't fine. I couldn't understand why hubbie didn't want to crack on with the baby making. But I think now I do. Hubbie is far better than I am at pausing and absorbing and appreciating the here and now. He knows how to count his blessings. He's content with our little world as it stands. And why shouldn't he be? It's a lovely little world that we've created together.

I've always believed that what is for you, will never go by you. And I passionately believe there are more babies in our future. So I just need to be patient. Count my blessings, embrace the here and now and wait for the time to be right.

Time to reflect and count our blessings...
